Sushi With Caviar

Sushi With Caviar

This roll of sushi with caviar is also known as the tobiko sushi roll. Tobiko which is the Japanese version of caviar has a crunchy texture, a salty flavor, and a trace of smoky flavor. It is often used in sushi rolls as a garnish in Japanese cuisine, where it is considered a popular element.

Tobiko is somewhat sweeter and has a milder smokey and salty flavor than other kinds of roe. It goes great with rice and fish because of its crispy but soft texture. Biting into a sushi roll that has been decorated with tobiko is a really pleasurable experience.

How To Make Sushi With Caviar

Prepare Sushi Rice:

  • Wash the rice and place it in the rice cooker with water. Once cooked, transfer to a large mixing bowl and set aside to cool somewhat. Stir in the optional sushi vinegar while it’s still quite heated (or the mixture of rice vinegar and sugar).
  • Make Tobiko Caviar Sushi:

    • Place the bamboo mat on top of a piece of plastic wrap (this will make cleaning up easier and prevent the rice from sticking to the bamboo).
    • Fold the nori sheets in half and divide them using scissors.
    • Place one-half of the nori sheet over the bamboo.
    • Spread 3/4 cup of cooked rice evenly over nori. (To avoid stickiness, immerse your hands in vinegar water.)
    • Turn everything over so that the rice is facing down.
    • Place the nori on top of the shrimp, avocado, and cucumber.
    • Lift the edge of the bamboo mat up and over the filling with your thumbs.
    • Roll the bamboo mat away from you and press down to tighten it. Continue rolling until the two ends touch.

Toss in the Tobiko Caviar Topping:

    • Remove the bamboo mat and cover the roll with tobiko Caviar.
    • Place the sushi mat on top of the plastic wrap. Gently squeeze the tobiko around the roll.
    • Keep the plastic wrap while removing the mat. Make bite-size pieces of the roll. Take the plastic wrap off each piece. Serve and have fun!
